SENIOR BUYER

An exciting opportunity exists to support and collaborate with the Materials Management team in a dynamic and expanding contract pharmaceutical manufacturer.  In this role you will source, purchase and expedite packaging materials in order to meet production requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate material needs and purchase packaging components accordingly to satisfy production requirements while balancing cost and inventory considerations.
  • Negotiate favorable pricing and terms with approved suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Communicate material/vendor issues that will impact production/delivery schedules to Planning and Customer Service/Product Transfer as required and manage these issues through to resolution.
  • Expedite based on MRP exceptions to ensure timely deliveries of packaging materials to meet production schedules.
  • Source packaging components and submit quotations to Business Development.
  • Investigate and resolve invoicing issues with Accounts Payable.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service/Business Development to process and implement artwork changes.
  • Initiate the circulation of customer approved specifications to Accounting, Customer Service and QA.
  • Work with QA and suppliers to resolve quality issues.
  • Coach and train other Buyers on systems, products and industry.
  • Responsible for working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures; properly uses personal protection and safety equipment as required by CPL; reports any injury or illness immediately and notifies CPL of any hazards, unsafe acts or conditions in the workplace.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Post secondary education or equivalent is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and meeting deadlines.
    • Strong negotiation and organizational skills.
    • Computer proficiency in MS office programs and SAP knowledge is a definite asset.
    • Individual must be self motivated and flexible with the ability to adapt and respond quickly to changing conditions, able to work without direct supervision and work effectively in a team environment.
